Tyto Athene has appointed Cutter Brenton as chief AI officer, where he’ll lead enterprise AI strategy, development and innovation across the company’s programs and oversee the Technology Accelerator Lab for Operational Needs, or TALON.
In the role, Brenton will accelerate Tyto’s shift to an AI-first enterprise across four practice areas: enterprise platforms & infrastructure, where automation targets friction in mission operations; cyber, applying AI to threat detection and response; software applications, putting AI-driven intelligence and logistics tools in the hands of decision-makers; and quantum, developing post-quantum cryptography and sensing capabilities. The work spans defense, intelligence and civilian agency customers.
“Our customers are focused on outcomes – what’s working, what’s delivering, and what’s moving the mission forward. And that’s exactly how we’re building,” Brenton said. “Across cyber, AI, quantum and software applications, the question we’re asking isn’t ‘what can we stand up’—it’s ‘what does the customer need to succeed, and how fast can we get it there.’ Tyto is building the technical depth and the proven, mission-focused solutions to answer that question every time.”
Brenton brings over 15 years leading defense data and AI programs, most recently as vice president of algorithmic warfare at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he oversaw a multihundred-million-dollar portfolio spanning CJADC2, Joint Fires, Special Missions, cyber, autonomous systems, electronic warfare, readiness, logistics and IT modernization.
“Cutter’s track record of building and scaling complex AI portfolios across the most demanding defense missions makes him the ideal leader to drive our AI strategy forward,” said Peter O’Donoghue, chief technology officer at Tyto Athene. “His appointment accelerates our vision of becoming the premier AI-enabled integrator for the federal market.”
