AMERICAN SYSTEMS has added Christopher L. Carson as an independent board member, where he’ll chair the Audit and Finance Committee.
Carson will occupy Barry Broadus’ vacated board seat. Broadus served in his position for nine years.
“Chris has considerable experience in leading the financial and compliance management of government contractors, making him a fantastic addition to our Board,” said John Steckel, president and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS.
“We are confident that his expertise will greatly contribute to our sustained profitable growth.”
Carson has over 40 years of experience in auditing, consulting and leading financial management of government contractors. He has served in several leadership positions, including corporate controller at Dual Inc. and Ogden Corp., and as managing partner at Argy, Wiltse & Robinson Inc. and BDO USA.
During his time at Argy and BDO, which acquired Argy, he helped found the government contracting practice, which grew from six people in 1994 to over 250 in 2018.
Carson most recently served as the CFO of Ultra Safe Nuclear Corp., where he managed financial operations and helped raise capital.
“I worked with AMERICAN SYSTEMS many years ago and have been impressed by their business plans and continued growth,” said Carson.
“Their longstanding status as a 100% employee-owned government contractor through their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) also appealed to me. I look forward to working alongside such an engaged team and am honored to join the Board of AMERICAN SYSTEMS.”
Carson joins Steckel, Vice President of HR Chris Braccio, and independent directors Peter Smith (chairman) and Dave Dacquino on AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ Board of Directors.
