Peter Guinto
Director of Defense Pricing, Acquisition and Sustainment, Department of War
Peter Guinto’s biggest recent achievement has been partnering with the department and the services to advance critical munitions programs forward with framework agreements to dramatically increase production for high-priority programs.
In 2026, his team is heavily focused on the growing gap between the America (and allies) and potential adversaries in an increasingly dangerous world. With finite budgets and time before potential conflict, fairly controlling unit prices and creating incentives is a primary lever to deliver more faster.
“Pete is very well deserving of this recognition and gets my strongest possible endorsement,” said John Tenaglia, principal director, defense pricing, contracting, and acquisition policy within the Office of the Secretary of War at DOW.
Why Watch
Guinto and his team are working to help government organizations operate more efficiently by helping
them to measure outcomes (rather than just activity) to ensure organizational goals are achieved. Additionally, their focus has been on ensuring people, policy and technology are all optimized and leveraged to achieve results.
“One of us is never smarter than all of us – we achieve the most together!” Guinto cited as a personal quote.
Fun fact: Guinto has always been service oriented and his first professional jobs were in firefighting, emergency medical response and respiratory therapy.
