Guided by a “mission comes first” mindset, Jason Marsh has spent over 25 years supporting the U.S. intelligence community and Department of War services and combatant commands. He is an expert in supporting intelligence operations, intelligence production, systems engineering, cybersecurity, agile delivery and program management worldwide.

He joined CGI Federal in 2013 to lead and grow CGI’s intelligence community portfolio, and currently serves as vice president of intelligence programs within the company’s Defense, Intelligence and Space business unit.

Today, his team supports intelligence and defense agencies including the National Reconnaissance Office, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the CIA, the NSA and the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Even at the beginning, his career has been built on supporting information technology projects in the intelligence community.

“Shortly after I started the IT support work, I transitioned to crisis and contingency support. This was in the early 2000s, and I was deployed across the Middle East and the Horn of Africa in support Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom,” he said. “After five years doing that, I moved to a role supporting cybersecurity and information technology for the U.S. Air Force and the intelligence community in Alaska.”

Moving back to the Washington, D.C., area after wrapping up his time in Alaska, Marsh began taking increasingly large and impactful management roles, still supporting the intelligence community.

“I have continued to look for ways to leverage technology to transform mission while supporting mission delivery,” he said. “I believe mission comes first, especially in the IC and the Department of War.”

    Keeping Pace with Change

In today’s rapidly evolving national security landscape, Marsh and his team navigate an environment defined by accelerating technological change, emerging global threats and increasing demands for interoperability across agencies. These dynamics create both challenges and meaningful opportunities to modernize mission-critical systems, strengthen cyber resilience and deliver innovative capabilities that directly support the intelligence community’s most pressing needs.

With AI rapidly becoming powerful, coupled with volatile tensions and active conflicts around the world, the U.S. intelligence community is facing a mix of complex challenges. Marsh sees this moment as an opportunity to harness advanced technologies, streamline delivery and deepen partnerships across agencies to help missions adapt and stay ahead.

“We’re living through an era of rapid transformation,” he said. “AI has advanced with staggering speed, and quantum computing is not far off. We have to aid our customers as they explore these emerging technologies and find innovative ways to deploy them in the course of carrying out their missions.”

He credits his successes over a lengthy career in part to mentoring and networking, which he says is “essential in GovCon. Success often depends not just on capability, but on relationships, credibility and informed navigation of complex federal ecosystems.”

Now, in mid-career, he seeks to help younger professionals still learning the complex world of contracting. “I have had the benefit of a great network across my peers, and terrific mentoring opportunities,” he said.
