IDEMIA Launches Payment Verification Platform for Purchases Made by AI Agents

IDEMIA Secure Transactions has launched its Agentic Commerce solution to help payment networks authenticate purchases made by AI agents, verify customer consent and retain control over transactions.

As AI agents take on more of the shopping and checkout process, domestic and regional payment networks and private-label card issuers will need to ensure their cards are available, trusted and selectable when the agent is the shopping interface.

IST’s solution combines its payment token platform with FIDO2-certified authentication, consent capture, verification and dispute-ready evidence features to give payment networks the infrastructure they need to make their cards agent-ready, the company said.

The system is also designed to let payment networks offer their cards for AI-driven purchases while preserving cardholders’ choice of network, including on co-badged cards.

“At IDEMIA Secure Transactions, we believe it’s crucial to give every payment network a proven way to be ready for AI-driven checkout,” said Anastasia SERIKOVA, executive vice president of digital payments solutions at IDEMIA Secure Transactions.

“Domestic and regional schemes, private-label and co-branded card issuers can now take part in this new era of commerce on their own terms, with trust and control for the consumers.”

IDEMIA said the platform will verify a cardholder’s consent before releasing payment credentials to an AI agent; use passkeys to authenticate users; let issuers limit transactions by merchant, amount or time; keep a record of authorization for potential disputes, and more.

IDEMIA said the platform will release tokenized payment credentials through IST’s Token Platform only when consent has been verified; use passkeys to authenticate users; let issuers limit transactions by merchant, amount or time; keep a record of authorization for potential disputes, and more.
