David Guffey
Director of U.S. Special Operations Command and IC accounts, Intel Corp.
One of David Guffey’s biggest recent achievements has been helping to bring advanced AI-at-the-edge capabilities to the Department of War through strategic partnerships and emerging technologies. Intel’s work is focused on delivering powerful compute solutions that can operate in disconnected environments, giving warfighters access to real-time AI capabilities wherever they are.
“It’s rewarding to help move these innovations from concept to operational reality,” Guffey said.
Guffey is also helping government customers operate more efficiently by helping them better understand the capabilities enabled by Intel’s latest 18A process technology. Whether supporting data centers, handheld devices or edge compute platforms, these advancements allow customers to process information faster, improve operational performance, and bring more AI-driven capabilities directly to the mission environment.
“David has been instrumental in helping Intel work more closely with partners to bring advanced edge computing capabilities directly to the warfighter,” said Greg Clifton, general manager of government go to market & sales at Intel. “Through collaborations with companies such as Ultralife, his team is helping accelerate AI-enabled solutions that can operate in disconnected and contested environments where speed, resilience, and real-time decision-making matter most.”
Why Watch
In 2026, Guffey and his team are heavily focused on enabling AI at the tactical edge for the warfighter. They’re working to reduce cognitive workload for operators while accelerating decision-making speed and accuracy through advanced Intel technologies. The goal is to make AI more accessible and actionable for both special operations and conventional forces.
“Technology is only valuable if it solves real operational challenges,” Guffey said. “Our focus is on delivering resilient, AI-enabled capabilities that help warfighters make faster, smarter decisions wherever the mission takes them.”
Fun fact: Guffey was adopted and, just a few years ago, found his biological sister. Building that relationship has been one of the great joys of his life and has introduced him to an incredible extended family he never knew he had.
