Akima subsidiary Pinnacle Solutions has won a $24 million Other Transactional Authority contract from Marine Corps Systems Command to design, develop and deliver the Amphibious Combat Vehicle Suite of Maintenance Training Systems over a 30-month period.
“This award underscores our commitment to delivering cutting-edge training solutions that prepare Marines for mission success,” said Scott Rauer, president of Akima’s Facilities Solutions Group. “By innovating training systems with our deep technical expertise, we are proud to support the U.S. Marine Corps in enhancing operational readiness.”
The suite replaces conventional classroom instruction with virtual reality and simulation tools built to accelerate technician proficiency and improve operational readiness. Pinnacle’s prototype was selected based on performance, innovation and alignment with mission requirements, and the government has since exercised its authority to transition the effort into a follow-on production award.
Under the contract, Pinnacle will deliver three systems to ACV maintenance units: an electronic classroom that upgrades existing infrastructure at the Assault Amphibian School to a virtual reality instructor-led environment; a diagnostic task trainer for hands-on diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair of ACV systems and line replaceable units; and a part task trainer for entry-level technicians practicing installation and removal of ACV power pack and suspension components.
Development will take place in Huntsville, Alabama, with delivery to the Assault Amphibian School at Camp Pendleton, California, as well as amphibious assault and maintenance battalions at Camp Pendleton; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Okinawa, Japan.
