Clif Basnight
Vice President, Mission Technology, Marconi Technologies
Over the past 12 months, Clif Basnight led the mission integration and product launch of three new products into the Department of War and global special operations arena. From RFI to product in operators’ hands, his team compressed the flash-to-bang timeline tremendously.
Basnight’s team brings subject matter expertise, speed and a mission-first mindset to every discussion. They focus on resolving issues quickly, cutting through friction and avoiding the blame game so customers can keep moving. One way they do this is spending quality time in the field with operators to understand their challenges and the opportunities to solve them quickly and directly.
“Mission-enabling capabilities are our focus,” Basnight said. “We innovate to meet customers where they’re going, not where they are.”
Why Watch
In 2026, Basnight’s team is heavily focused on platform integration of expeditionary, dual-use capabilities. That includes leveraging newly developed software-defined radios, next-generation defense and commercial waveforms, and mission-aware AI to help operators move faster and make better decisions.
“Clif’s work reflects exactly where our focus needs to be: speed, integration and mission impact,” said Alain Cohen, president of Marconi Technologies (the defense firm recently spun off from Ultra I&C). “He understands what operators need, and he helps our teams turn that understanding into capability.”
Fun fact: While serving in the Army Band in the 1990s, Basnight was part of the group that opened for Ray Charles in Mannheim, Germany.
